Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO, Michael P. Kelly, shared viewpoints on the golf course with the Chicago Tribune including:

“Working in partnership with the Chicago Parks Golf Alliance, we’ve seen an increase in city-wide registrations for the First Tee of Greater Chicago from last year. Most recently, 20 high school students from the Jackson Park and South Shore communities began training to offer caddie services at no additional cost to Jackson Park golfers. In addition, 10 students at Excel Academy of South Shore were gifted with golf clubs, professional instruction and mentors to encourage and support their efforts.

We understand that change can be difficult; however, it is also necessary for growth. The transformation of Jackson Park and South Shore golf courses will not only enhance the golf experience in Chicago, but also make the sport more accessible for anyone who desires to play”
